This is clever and it took a bit of time to figure out the pathology. But there is one, and it’s interesting.
This approach is obviously personalized to the owner/manager of a commercial Internet brand and hints at risk to our online trademark (miproconsulting) due to a foreign application being made for our trademark name in country-specific flavors (.asia, .biz, .cc, .cn, .com. cn., .hk, etc.). Being the nice foreign domain registrar they are, the sender of this message, SK Holdings, is asking us if we want to do business with them and secure all of the miproconsulting variants listed below so that we can protect our Internet brand from this foreign applicant.
Isn’t it nice that someone halfway across the globe is looking out for our best interests? Makes me want to do business with them right away.
There are many versions of this floating around the web, most of which have Chinese senders. Seems they’re really advancing their pretexting game. Hooray.

We received the same message with out domain in it yesterday. Something about it just didn’t seem right. The Chinese person who supposedly wrote the message in broken English was named Carol. Hardly a Chinese name right?
A friend of mine just said that he got the same one at his business.
I think the push is pretty concentrated, like many gluts of topical spam.
Our manufacturing business has also gotten a few of these. They do get your attention because they are confusing and at first look like something you need to address. Mostly they come to us via submission to our website contact page. Attached is a recent one.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing from HKZC Intellectual Property Rights Protection Center. For your
record, China Trademark Office has received an Application for Registration from
MeiAo Investment Co,.Ltd claiming the “dorannelim” as its trademark,
domain and internet brand names in China. According to Madrid Agreement Concerning
the International Registration of Marks, we blocked their application as “Reapply
Occupied International Trademarks and Domains”. However,they made some adjustments
and claimed Review of Refused Trademarks and Domains. According to their claim, they
can waive the trade mark but reserve the rights to turn to overseas registrars if
they cannot obtain these domains in China. In order to depress this implied reverse
passing-off, we monitored Chinese trademarks and all domains they are applying for
