Deal Architect: Full Feeds Please

by Jeff Ventura on August 8, 2008

One of my favorite new business blogs is Deal Architect by Vinnie Mirchandani.  It’s become a daily read for me.  But here’s the thing: I follow over 100 feeds.  I don’t go to any website regularly, even personal favorites like Daring Fireball or kottke.org.  I live my digital life, in large part, in a feed reader (Google Reader for me, but there are many of them out there), and clicking away to a website — especially for the sake of clicking and little else — is a total interrupt to my workflow.

So Vinnie, if you’re reading that, can you please switch to full RSS feeds?  Your subscribers will thank you.

Jeff, thanks…I look forward to your continued comments on the blog…

when I accepted sponsors in Feb I switched to partial feeds,…esssentially because RSS readers do not allow for proper counting of readership, something sponsors are clearly interested in…I got a handful of requests like yours and some which actually said great now we can skim your stuff quicker and drill down as we need to
some suggested carrying sponsor logos to the feed but that still does not allow for proper readership counting … another model someone suggested was start a paid reader subscription model and give those a full feed None of these are ideal …

About half the feeds I personally read are partials …and honestly I quite like the read title and first 2-3 lines and decide if I want to drill down…

I may change in future, but for now, pls just put up with the additional click throughs…

Vinnie: I hear ya. You get my clicks regardless, but man, I really hate partial feeds. But I do understand your reasoning.

Thx for your comment. Talk at you soon.
