Know what did it for me? Reading McCarthy's 'The Road' woke me back up to the sound and shape and edges of words. It's a piece of fiction, but some of the writing borders on poetry. These days, it takes some work to get back to what I used to notice firsthand all the time. IMHO, it's a worthwhile pursuit. Exactly.

I feel dummer because I don't savor the words as I used to and my opinions are formed by people who use words and phrases that I like.
