Home // 2013 OHUG Global Conference Recap
Last week, more than 1,600 members of the Oracle HCM community gathered in Dallas for the OHUG Global Conference 2013, an impressive 33 percent increase over last year’s attendance.  And the positive momentum didn’t stop there.
The overall atmosphere at the show was upbeat, engaged and very interactive.  According to MIPRO PeopleSoft HCM Practice Director Anne Meyer, who presented with customer Paul Chin-Lai of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, the particularly buzz worthy topics were PeopleSoft 9.2, Taleo and Fusion at the “Meet the Expert” sessions.  Anne and Paul’s presentation, titled “PeopleSoft HCM Enhancements Propel Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama,” was also well received, with an engaged audience of nearly 40 people asking great questions, which were knowledgeably fielded by Anne and Paul.
Attendees were surveyed at several PeopleSoft 9.2 sessions, and the results were compelling.  When asked which HCM 9.2 features were of most importance, attendees indicated that the Manager Dashboard, Paycheck Modeler and Guided Life Events were of the most significant interest.  In addition, approximately nine percent are planning to upgrade in 2013, while an impressive 48 percent are anticipating a 2014 upgrade.  MIPRO Southeast Director Dan Vanacore, who interacted with hundreds of HCM users at the MIPRO booth, added that many were utilizing information gleaned at OHUG to make final decisions about 9.2, and whether an upgrade is in order for their organization.
MIPRO Senior Principal Consultant Gloria Smith was also an active OHUG conference participant, leading her first Payroll Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting since taking the helm of the group in March.  Gloria indicated that the meeting was comprised of a great mix of technical and functional professionals, who were brought up to speed on Oracle support and new regulations, with a particular focus on administration of the Affordable Care Act.  The group of 120 then broke out into PeopleSoft and EBS focus groups.  The PeopleSoft group had a lively discussion, driven by insightful business process and best practice conversations.
The 2013 OHUG Global Conference was a resounding success for Oracle, HCM users and MIPRO alike, with great ideas shared and critical industry topics addressed.  For more information, visit the HCM portion of our blog, and don’t hesitate to contact us to continue the conversation.
