MIPRO Consulting sees PeopleSoft Update Manager as a Game-Changer for Businesses

The highly anticipated release of PeopleSoft 9.2 earlier this year not only provided users with significant system enhancements and improvements, but may also have sparked the end of the upgrade process as we currently know it thanks to a new feature called PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM).
Paco Aubrejuan, Senior Vice President of PeopleSoft development, has heralded PUM as the most strategic investment in PeopleSoft viability in the last 10 years.  Created in response to the influence and lower cost of ownership of the SaaS model, PUM will allow customers to select strategic updates from new releases as opposed to conducting full-scale upgrades every few years.  For example, customers can upgrade new functionality in Billing and leave everything else alone unless it is required for the new billing functionality.  From the customer standpoint, this delivery model is highly attractive because it allows businesses to spread out the cost of an update.
This feature is currently only available to PeopleSoft 9.2 users, and can be engaged through a new mechanism called PeopleSoft Image, which can be downloaded with VirtualBox technology.  This means that, eventually, all PeopleSoft users will need to upgrade to version 9.2 so they have access to PUM—and, subsequently, any future updates released via PUM.
PUM will transform the way customers manage their PeopleSoft applications.  Customers will have the ability to determine what maintenance to apply, when to apply it, and at any point can create a single change package to get current.  The cost savings and strategic benefits this enables are significant.  For more information about engaging PUM through PeopleSoft 9.2, or integrating PeopleSoft with Fusion, visit our blog or contact us directly.
We look forward to hearing from you.
